LG Chairmen Storm Taraba Assembly, Frown at Alleged Plot to Impeach Speaker

•No G8 in Taraba Assembly- Speaker Insist

The 16 local government chairmen of Taraba State, under the auspices of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Taraba State Chapter have expressed displeasure on the recent plot by some members of the House to impeach the Speaker, Rt Hon Joseph Albasu Kunini and his deputy, Hon Hamman'Adama to pave way for impeachment of the Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku.
Led by the State Chairman of the Association, Hon Bala S. Bako who is also Chairman of Ibi local government on courtesy visit to Taraba State House of Assembly and passed Vote of Confidence on the leadership of the House.
They described such plot by some members of the State House of Assembly as not only unpatriotic but devilish, since their intention was not only to impeach the Speaker but to impeach the Governor, too, thereby throwing the entire State into chaos and breach of the relative peace.
Bako in his speech said, "You might have been in the picture of unfolding events few days ago wherein some unpatriotic elements in the society were peddling rumours of effecting changes in the leadership position of Taraba State House of Assembly.
"As patriotic citizens of the State, I on behalf of all the sixteen (16) local government chairmen wish to state unequivocally that we are solidly behind our leader, the Executive Governor of the State, Arc Darius Dickson Ishaku and the entire leadership of the State House of Assembly under Rt Hon.Dr. Joseph Albasu Kunini.
"The unprecedented progress and development achieved in the state under the present leadership calls for support by all well meaning Tarabians. It's thus our collective decision and resolution to pass a unanimous Vote of Confidence on His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Arc Darius Dickson Ishaku and the leadership of the Taraba State House of Assembly under Rt Hon. Dr. Joseph Albasu Kunini. May God in His infinite mercies keep us United."
Responding, the Speaker thanked the local government chairmen for the solidarity which he said has spurred him to do his best in piloting the affairs of the State House of Assembly, just as he asserted that no one is perfect but working towards perfection.
The Speaker had earlier debunked insinuations in some quarters that there is serious crack among members of the assembly.

Kunini, said there is nothing called G-8 in the assembly. "As I am standing, I can tell you in confidence that the relationship existing among members has been very cordial.
"As you can see, on Monday, when the vote of confidence was passed on Governor Ishaku, two among those you called the G-8 were present at the plenary and they contributed at the session.

He described the plot by some of the members of the House of Assembly as unpatriotic and only undesirable elements would contemplate such, unless with collaboration of Fifth Columnist.
"We assure you that we would not be detracted by such undesirable elements who are unpatriotic and want to turn Taraba State upside down. The Taraba State House of Assembly is a House of Equity and Justice. We are not afraid of the Fifth Columnist," he stressed.
