Power Minister Promise to Connect More Communities to National Grid

•Reels Out Special Projects For Taraba State

  

The Minister for Power Engr Saleh Mamman has reel out his plans to boast electricity supply to Taraba State, promising that with the commissioning of the 40MW Kashimbilla Power Plant in Takum, more communities in the state will be connected to National grid.

 

The Minister speaking  when he paid a Sallah homage to Governor Darius Ishaku in Jalingo, announced that some communities were already connected in Taraba.

 

 

 

 

The Minister who was in Jalingo on a week Sallah visit to his home state  used the  opportunity to inform Governor Ishaku of his  special projects that will enhance the electricity supply in Taraba state.

 

" I have directed for a number of rural electrification projects to be executed in the different parts of the State and the supply of transformers to improve efficiency in Jalingo and other towns.

 

"As part of an effort to boost electricity to  Taraba State, we are to upgrade the Jalingo transmission sub_station from the current 132 kv to 330 kv," the Minister said.

 

 

The Minister also commended the state government  for the cooperation  received in the effort to actualize the Mambila hydroelectric power project.

 

He said with the gradual relaxing of the covid-19 restrictions, "it's my hope that things will get back to normal soon so that we can finalize and take off the project as promised by Mr.President."

 

 

He also assured the governor of his readiness to always  partner with the state government in the right direction to help the people.

 

Governor Ishaku  has earlier invited the Minister to join him in the task to build a new Taraba state, adding that their political party differences should be a reason for them to work together in order to improve power supply in the state.

The governor also congratulated the minister  for wheeling over five thousand megawatts of electricity onto the national grid.

He said it was heartwarming that Inspite of all challenges within the sector, he was able to achieve the feat.

Ishaku said he was impressed with good working relationship between the two of them. He therefore, challenge other political office holders from the state at the national level to emulate the good gestures of the minister.
