Workers Protest, Blames Management for ‘Crippling’ Taraba Green House Project

Some staff of the Taraba State Green House and Vegetables Farm in Jalingo are protesting against the delay in the confirmation of their appointments, calling on the state government to probe the management of the company for poorly managing the company .

The protesters who blocked the entrance of the state owned Vegetable farm lamented that poor management is crippling the Green House project as staff are poorly motivated in doing their works.

The protesters said the Vegetable Company has the potential to meet its targeted goal if properly managed by its current handlers.

However, the Managing Director Taraba Investment  Mr. Iliya Ezekiel has faulted the workers, explaining that the workers were engaged based on the agreements that their productivity will be assessed after six months before their confirmation .

Iliya Ezekiel said after the first six months of assessment they fail below productivity standards.

He said the company which was established to earn profits to the government has to conduct another appraisal exercise where alot of the workers fail .

Ezekiel said he has been very  considerate of the plight of the workers considering lack of work in the society but the staff don't come to work until pay day.

He said those coming to work regularly has no issue with the company, noting that the company has not done anything wrong and did not sack any staff.

Ezekiel said those affected  have written to the Green House that they should be pay off if their appointment will not be confirmed, "We are working on how to pay them their entitlements."
