Corona Virus: At State Executive Council meeting, Gov Ishaku, Commissioners Shuns Social Distancing, Other Preventive Measures

Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku on Monday presided over the state Executive Council meeting, but preventive measures to avoid the spread of novel Corona Virus were jettisoned, Taraba Truth and Facts reports.

Although no case of the virus have been reported in Taraba State, two cases were however recorded in neighboring Benue state and Baffousan in Cameron.

The meeting took place at the state Executive Council Chambers government House Jalingo but cabinet members only appeared with nose mask, shunning other preventive measures in combatting the spread of Corona Virus.

Taraba Truth and Facts reports that sitting arrangements at the meeting did not follow the social distancing guidelines, while Commissioners present were without hand gloves. 

The meeting hall also had more than twenty people against precautionary measures in spreading the virus.

The commissioner for information Adamu Danjuma said the meeting was necessary because the Governor needed to approved in earnest the implimentations of the report of the Committee on the COVID-19 who were inaugurated last week.

 He further said the order placed on the Ban for the inter-state movement by the Governor will be more stricked this week and advised travellers to stay at their destinations because they won't gain entrance into the state until after the next 14 days. 

He however cleared the air on the rumour making rounds that there was a suspected case of person with Coronavirus in Gashaka, he said a blood sample of the person was taken to Lagos for test and has returned Nagative hereby making Taraba free of the virus.

The Governor however advised citizens to adhered to the pracautionary measures instructed by medical practitioners especially on personal hygiene such as washing of hands regularly, practicing social distancing, use if hand sanitizers etc.
