Jukun/Tiv crisis: Relocate to Southern Taraba- APC stakeholders tell Gov. Ishaku

 Stakeholders of Southern Taraba rose from a meeting in Abuja, asking   Taraba State Governor, Arch. Darius D. Ishaku to relocate to the southern Zone with a view to resolving the Jukun/Tiv crises with immediate effect.

The All Progressive Congress Southern Taraba Stakeholders in a communique called on the Governor to be alert to his responsibilities as Governor, stressing that Taraba government has failed to protect lives and properties in the Southern zone. 
The Stakeholders at the meeting chaired by  Dr Yakubu Tor Agbide demanded that as a matter of urgency, the Governor should put in place machinery to quell the crises and security challenges that has bedevilled Taraba State particularly the Southern Zone where he comes from.

More than a hundred people have been killed in the last three months since hostility between the Jukun and Tiv people living in Taraba state commences. 
The conflict, has affected thousands of farming communities in Wukari, Donga and some parts of Takum local government areas.

Farms in the affected areas were abandoned and farmers fled to Wukari, Donga and Takum towns while others crossed to Benue State.

A COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED BY THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC) SOUTHERN TARABA STAKEHOLDERS ON WEDNESDAY, 10 JULY 2019 IN ABUJA.
The Stakeholders of Southern Taraba rose from a meeting in Abuja, deliberated on a wide range of issues and called on the Governor of Taraba State Arch Darius Dickson Ishaku to be alert to his responsibilities as Governor. The Stakeholders demanded that as a matter of urgency, the Governor should put in place machinery to quell the crises and security challenges that has bedevilled Taraba State particularly the Southern Zone where he comes from.
The Stakeholders therefore jointly called on the Governor to expedite action as follows: 
1.    The Governor of Taraba State, Arch. Darius D. Ishaku should relocate to the southern Zone with a view to resolving the crises with immediate effect.

2.    A consultative meeting of all critical stake holders comprising of Security agencies, Traditional rulers, elders, religious leaders, politicians from all political parties, women and youth and other opinion leaders should be convened immediately to proffer solutions that will bring about lasting peace in the Southern Zone.

3.    Government should with sincerity of purpose address issues of injustices across the various communities and divides that have continually precipitated the crises among the people of Southern Zone of Taraba.

4.    Put together measures to stop the spate incessant of kidnappings, armed robberies and communal clashes that have engulfed the Southern Zone of Taraba State and;

5.    Government should put in place measures to gainfully engage and empower people in order to keep them off from vices.

6.    Finally, this communiqué is issued in good faith and in the best interest of all Nigerians living in Taraba State.
