Election Tribunal: How Gov. Ishaku 'scaled through'

Legal moves by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to sack Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State failed on Wednesday at the State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja which  dismissed the petition against his victory in the March 9, election.
The  petitioner  was filed by the APC governorship candidate in the state, Abubakar Danladi and the party had withdrawn his case following decision of the Supreme Court which upheld the Appeal Court judgment that disqualified Danladi on the grounds of false declaration of age.
Governor Ishaku has won at the petition tribunal based on legal technicalities of law, a die hard APC supporter said.
''We have to withdrawal our case because technicality of law has put us in a corner, the PDP knowns that and they cannot even jubilate their victory because our case was not decided in its merit.''
The APC and Senator Danladi has seek for the withdrawal of the case at the tribunal.
After listening to the briefs from all parties, the tribunal accepted the withdrawal by the petitioners and said after the Prehearing session of the case  a total of 53 witnesses were called by the petitioners and in view of the application by the petitioners the court hereby incline same by granted them the application to withdraw the case.
The APC had in its petitions claimed that  governor Ishaku was not duly elected by a majority of lawful votes cast in the election.
They further claimed that the governor’s election was invalid by reason of non-compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended).
The petitioners further claimed that Ishaku’s election was invalid for reasons of corrupt practices.

The Supreme Court had dismissed the appeal filed before it by Danladi, challenging his disqualification by the Federal High Court in Jalingo, giving Governor Ishaku a straight victory at the election petition tribunal
