2023: Agitation for Power shift to Sardauna begins

•Pitfalls ahead of Abel Diah guber ambition

Ahead of 2023 election, political stakeholders in the Sardauna Division  has commenced agitation  to produce the next governor of Taraba State.

They agrued that Sardauna division comprising of Mambila, Gashaka and Kurmi has never produced a governor in the state.

One of the individual expected to contest in the 2023 is the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Abel Peter Diah who has not hidden his ambition to govern the state after Governor Darius Ishaku.

A champion of zoing to the division, Benard Warwar said “so far, out of all governor's elected in Taraba state, are either from MURI or Wukari divisions (1991) till date. The three local governments of Sardauna division have always voted overwhelmingly for the candidates from any of this divisions”.

“In the spirit of fairness and the quest to balance this age long lingering inequality, the people of Gashaka, Kurmi and Sardauna division should be given the opportunity to taste the seat of Power in the state, by presenting one of their own as a sole candidate for the position of a Governor (2023), with a full reciprocal support from other divisions to strengthen our democracy, spirit of fairness and a sense of belonging in our governance,” he said.

However Abel Diah ambition might not be an easy one as oppositions has started gathering against him, even within his political party, PDP.
They are strong claims that the speaker is originally from Cameroon, " we won't mind going to challenge that in court, He was born a Cameroonian and is not eligible to contest for governor in Taraba State."‎

Also his alleged involvement in the 2017 crisis on the Mambila where hundreds of Fulani were killed would affect his support in the zone.
"Many of the people are still angry with the Speaker on his role he played in the crisis, you know they are evidences against him, videos and audio where he made some inciting comments, how we would allow such person rule Taraba state. 2023 is still far but I can tell you so many people will resist the Speaker's ambition even within his own party."
Another agitation might be that the North should be the next to produce governor since the late Danbaba Suntia was governor from Taraba Central stood elections for two terms.

Sources told Taraba Truth and Facts that stakeholders from Taraba North would ensure individuals from the Northern zone are allowed to contest in 2023 in the PDP despite Governor Ishaku's preference for Abel Daih to take over from him.

"Well we have three zones in the state and the Central and Southern zone have run the office concurrently, it's just fair that the North produce the next governor and don't forget that many people who's aspiration is backed by the incubment governor does not make it to the seat in Taraba, so don't be suprise if the Speaker ambition hits the rock eventually. Other people who have not hide their interest in the governorship come 2023 includes, the Deputy Governor Haruna Manu, Danladi Biado, Bello Yerro and PDP Chairman Victor Bala Kona who has stronger political clouths in the state. 
For the All Progressive Congress APC in the state, permutation ahead of 2023 is yet to commence.
The APC in the state is struggling to unite it's family since after the election, stakeholders in the party are hopeful that its Petition at the Election Tribunal would change the story.

The Taraba State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal Sitting In Abuja last Monday adjourned it's sitting to Monday 17/6/2019 For Further Hearing.
They are hopeful that the election of Governor Ishaku will be nullify due to gross irregularities and over voting that characterized the election.
