Taraba Rescues 11 Trafficked Children, Vows Tougher Action Against Offenders The Taraba State Government has vowed to clamp down on human traffickers following the rescue of 11 young men who were being trafficked out of the state under false pretenses. The State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Hon. Mary Sinjen, disclosed this during a press conference in Jalingo on Monday. She said the rescue operation was carried out in collaboration with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP). According to her, the victims—10 from Wukari Local Government Area and one from Jalingo—were intercepted on their way to Delta State, where they were promised vocational training and better opportunities. Dr Jalo Raises Alarm Over Deplorable Taraba Roads, Calls for Emergency Rehabilitation The National Chairman of the Council of Preachers (Ulama) of Jama’atu Izalatul Bid’a Wa Ikamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS), Dr. Jalo Jalingo, has raised alarm over the deteriorating condition of roads in Taraba State, describing the situation as alarming and in urgent need of federal attention. In a statement made available, Dr. Jalingo lamented that almost all federal roads in the state have collapsed, while the state government has not constructed or maintained any standard highway of its own. He warned that Jalingo, the state capital, is now almost inaccessible from both the western and southern parts due to the deplorable condition of the roads. Troops Foil Planned Attack On Chanchanji Community Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade, operating under Sector 3 of Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), have neutralised two terrorists and recovered weapons during a counter-terrorism operation in Taraba State. The operation, conducted under the ongoing Operation LAFIYA NAKOWA, was said to have been geared towards dismantling terrorist activities in the region. According to a statement issued on Tuesday by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for 3 Division, the mission was launched in Takum Local Government Area following credible intelligence.
